As part of the project, KazFoodProducts will supply bioethanol, the core feedstock for SAF production, through its subsidiary BioOperations LLP, which specializes in deep wheat processing and bioethanol production in Kazakhstan.

This initiative marks an important step towards reducing carbon emissions in the aviation industry and promoting the use of renewable energy in Kazakhstan. A preliminary feasibility study was successfully completed in 2024, and the full FS is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025.

“KazFoodProducts sees this project as both a contribution to Kazakhstan’s sustainable future and a strategic opportunity to expand the export potential of Kazakhstani bioethanol, while attracting international investment to the agro-processing sector,” the company noted.

The feasibility study will include a comprehensive assessment of potential plant locations, production volumes, and the development of logistics and technological solutions in line with international standards.

SAF, produced using “alcohol-to-jet” technology, offers a significant reduction in carbon emissions compared to conventional jet fuel. Global aviation leaders such as British Airways, ANA, and Virgin Atlantic are already integrating SAF into their sustainability programs — and Kazakhstan is now preparing to follow suit.

KazFoodProducts is proud to contribute to global climate action by promoting Kazakhstani raw materials and technologies on the international stage.
